Proposal
The purpose of my local events magazine is suppose to inform and promote events happening in the Sheffield area.
Form: The magazine will be small production print for locals of a city.
Genre: The magazine I will be producing is a Local Events magazine.
Content
My magazine is called Seven Peaks, the name connotes to a the city of Sheffield being built on seven hills. For my magazine I will produce 4 pages. The content will consist of a front cover, contents page and a double page spread. My audience is for both male and females however I think it will appeal to 70% male and 30% female. The age range will be aimed for 16-24+ due to the lifestyle and content it promotes within the street wear scene.
For my Front cover I want to feature a medium close up of my subjects; two young entrepreneurs Joe Winstanley and Alex Dobbs who have created the brand 'District'. This will be a portrait two shot showing the environment where they got their inspiration from; The Peak district. Both will be wearing their new range of the Spring/Summer 2018 collection. This shows the reader the main feature subliminally without viewing the text. The backdrop needs to connote the clothes 'summer' look so I'll need to time manage and secure a date with my clients where it is suitable weather and lighting.
Sans serif font so the Mast head of the mag stands out and fits conventions. The logo surrounding the text will be a minimalist box that stands out and fits the moody tones of the house style. Cover-lines surrounding the main image will consist of, giveaways and short statements that allude to or describe the articles inside; this is important to entice the viewer into opening and reading the magazine. The house style of my magazine will be gender neutral colours such as greens, greys, blacks and whites. These colours represent to the location of the Peak District area. Connoting nature and the outdoors.

I will include common conventions such as branding, the issue number, Titles for each of my sections of contents within my contents page. The key articles will feature photos of the subject/ event with page numbers next to them so the reader can easily locate. All articles will link to the Sheffield area and any events featured will be easily accessible for students located in the city. There will be four main articles with pictures that will include shops, cafe/eateries, events e.g Tramlines or concerts that my audience would be interested in, and interviews/relaxed conversations with influential people in fashion. Competitions may feature give aways of brands featured within the magazine to promote them. Also the community could submit a photo of their favourite street wear outfit that they've personally composed and photographed originally for a chance to be featured in the next issue. This would provide content as well as up to date individual style that could inspire the communities wardrobe. This would further more benefit the social media interaction of Seven Peaks creating a unique tight knit relationship with its audience. The fonts and graphics on this page will carry over the same housestyle as the front page, further connoting a summery magazine with a minimalist clean style that appeals to my target audience.
This will include the twin/ long shot of my clients, this shot will connote the summery house style of my magazine as well as being a powerful image that clearly shows the creators and their message behind the project. This message will be displayed via a strap line. The image could spread between both pages showing Joe and Alex on the 1st page and the location of the Peak District on the 2nd page. This could showcase the garments and the subjects clearly whilst not breaking up the flowing house style of my magazine. The Gonzo style interview will then be over laying the scenic location on the second page, further connoting where 'District' was inspired and showing a clear brand image. Both will be wearing the 'District' Spring/Summer 18. Since this page is dedicated to showing the image, text will be minimal. However links to the 'District' website and social media will be displayed.
On this page I will display my Gonzo style interview. This style of interview will connote the relaxed content I want to produce in a Q&A fashion. Districts brand image is 'find your own space and take pride in it'. This is great content to display within my magazine due to the audience being students and young professionals. It promotes getting away from your phones and clearing a head space. With Seven Peaks, having a friendly relationship with the clients it makes for an informal approach. This levels with my young audience by using relaxed conversation making it an easy read. Within the interview, the points that will be discussed are on the brand, where it is going, what was their inspiration was? etc.. This will promote the brand 'District' as well as hopefully inspire young people to get involved since Joe and Alex are only 20 .
Distribution and Marketing methods
Seven Peaks is a local events magazine that follows young people in street fashion, upcoming brands, and local events in and around the Sheffield area. Aimed at students aged 16-24, my audience will be digital native so this magazine will be viewed online as well as print; this is because my audience use the internet and social media regularly to look at the street wear scene, music and limited drops. By the platform being online, it allows easy access and competes with my main competitor, ‘Exposed’ who are a local events magazine for Sheffield there Moto is 'a magazine that goes beyond the printed pages'. I will have a large online viewing because this may reach other areas then just Sheffield and putting it online makes expansion more of an opportunity whilst lowering the costs of printing. As well as using the internet to promote, Seven Peaks social media apps can be as effective through below the line advertising methods such as having a Twitter page. With the hashtag #ItsNotPeak referring to the teenage slang word 'Peak' meaning bad, this denotes a young image and connotes a relationship with the audience. This allows for synergy across platforms making it easy for competitions, collaborations and promotions thanks to social media creating a community with the simple hashtag. A Facebook page and instagram would also be as effective. Further more reducing costs for my niche magazine.
Seven Peaks will publish 1,250 copies to have in circulation, these will be available in the train station, Slugger, Lucky Fox, Cow Sheffield, Steam room Café, Pirate Ship, Mooch and other independent businesses around Sheffield, that offer communal spaces and services where my niche audience will feel naturally comfortable and enjoy reading Seven Peaks. Although Seven Peaks is not a skate magazine, it is may feature and resonate with the skateboarding community with fashion, events and music. My estimated readership will be 3,000 I think this because the places/ sponsers that will house my magazine are spaces where the community relax and browse with friends. Each magazine due to these factors will be viewed at least 3 times. My magazine will be monthly changing in house styles and featuring different street cultures; this denotes a new look every month connoting to the street fashion scene and my audience.

Advertisements that would suit the audience explained would be events of underground music e.g hip-hop, grime, garadge etc.. For clothing advertisements places like Pirate Ship Sheffield would be good due to their large following on instagram and being well known within the street wear community (my audience). From this horizontal intigration could take place.

Resources & Personnel
I will be the editor, photographer and graphics designer for my magazine ‘Seven Peaks’. When photographing the images for my magazine I am planning to use a 35mm lens as well as 50mm lens on a Canon 700D when shooting. Shooting in large format on a digital camera will give me the most flexibility in post processing when editing the photos in Lightroom and Photoshop. As well as editing my photographs with these programs, I will be using InDesign to design my contents page. I will be using 2 models. They will be wearing the District t shirts along with casual street wear to go with the surrounding content of my magazine.
